Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Patient Safety Programs: Design, implement, and coordinate patient safety programs that align with the organization's strategic objectives and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Provide Expertise and Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert in patient safety and provide guidance to healthcare professionals on best practices, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and Analysis: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with patient care, using tools such as Comprehensive Systematic Analysis (CSA) and Proactive Risk Assessment (PRA).
- Develop and Implement Quality Improvement Initiatives: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives that address patient safety concerns and improve healthcare outcomes.
- Provide Education and Training: Develop and deliver education and training programs to healthcare professionals on patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement.
- Monitor and Report Patient Safety Events: Collect, analyze, and report patient safety events to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
- A bachelor's degree in a nursing or healthcare-related field.
- Four (4) years minimum experience in a healthcare-related field, with military inpatient facility experience highly desired.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- The ability to work independently, organize time, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- The ability to pay attention to detail and effectively communicate patient safety concepts to leadership and healthcare staff.
- Experience with patient safety aspects of healthcare accreditation is highly desirable.
- Documented experience with performing Comprehensive Systematic Analysis (CSA) and Proactive Risk Assessment (PRA).
- Bachelor's level skills in written and oral communications, public speaking, and fostering positive interpersonal relationships.
- For Patient Safety Specialists with data analytic duties: basic skills in Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Structured Query Language (SQL), related databases, and visual report design tools.
