Position Overview:
The Fleet Mechanic is tasked with performing repairs and maintenance on trucks and trailers as directed by the Shop Manager. This role requires a commitment to NHT's mission, vision, and core values, ensuring high standards of work and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
· Diagnose and repair issues related to electrical, mechanical, air, and hydraulic systems.
· Assess equipment for safety compliance.
· Gain proficiency in Emdecs Kona fleet management software.
· Document work performed and repairs executed on equipment.
· Utilize tools safely and effectively.
· Employ lifting equipment and jack stands with caution.
· Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
· Adapt to changing work schedules and urgent situations.
· Work independently within the shop environment.
· Acquire new skills in service, maintenance, and repair techniques.

Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED / equivalent experience.
· Prior experience as a Mechanic.
· Basic knowledge and skills in diesel and trailer mechanics.

Skills and Attributes:
· Effective communication skills for training and documentation.
· Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions and standard operating procedures.
· Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
· Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
· Professional demeanor and self-confidence.
· Adaptability and problem-solving capabilities.
· Commitment to safety and health regulations.
· Proficient in using various hand tools and precision measurement instruments.

Physical Requirements:
The Fleet Mechanic may be required to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs. The work environment can be busy and noisy, necessitating excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, with shifts available from noon to 8:00 pm, midnight to 8:00 am, or 4:00 pm to midnight.
