Job Summary

The Medical Office Licensed Practical Nurse is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing assistance to providers with patient exams and procedures. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing
  • Collect and document patient vitals, chief complaints, pain assessment, and past medical history
  • Perform and maintain other LPN duties related to physician office operations
  • Conduct monthly inspections of supplies and medications, ensuring expiration dates are met and expired items are disposed of properly
  • Ensure clinical supplies are properly stocked and review charts for next day's appointments
  • Log and update medication lists for patients, assist with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and scanning
  • May be asked to provide coverage in other areas of the Foundation offices
  • Manage patient care in collaboration with other healthcare team members to meet patient needs
  • Pre-clean, decontaminate, and transport contaminated instruments according to policy
  • Cross-train to perform Medical Office Assistant duties and follow vaccine and medication management policy
  • Perform document import daily, review and handle ERX requests with provider direction, and contact insurance companies for necessary authorizations
  • Perform intermediate-level disinfection and high-level disinfection per manufacturer instructions, ensuring scopes and probes are cleaned, disinfected, maintained, and stored properly
  • Follow medical record documentation procedure as detailed in the MCF Documentation Assistant policy and assist providers in navigating the medical record
  • Document everything said during the course of a service and conduct daily, weekly, and monthly check-offs for AED, equipment, and eye wash
  • Ensure patient care areas are cleaned after each patient visit per SOMC guidelines
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required
  • Licensed to practice as an LPN in Ohio required
  • IV Certification required
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • One to three months of experience preferred
