Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in evaluating and treating patients with acute care inpatient rehabilitation needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients according to prescriptions and findings from the evaluation to improve upper extremity function.
  • Use equipment and specific instruments to assess varied impairments and suggest orthotic devices as required to promote independent function.
  • Document all treatments and patient records, complete progress notes on a daily basis, and maintain daily statistics for occupational therapy treatment.
  • Communicate with members of other disciplines as needed and attend required departmental meetings and rounds relevant for treatment.
  • Recommend adaptive devices relevant for community discharge planning and attend in-service training conferences, seminars as part of continuing education requirements.
  • Provide in-services training to new residents, students, and entry-level OTs and be responsible for occupational therapists assistants and rehab technicians.
  • Suggest the purchase of equipment and supplies for patient use as part of OT treatment and be responsible for other duties designated by the chief and assistant chief OT.
Qualifications
  • Approved certification test in order to be registered and eligible for New York State license, upon completion of a BS or master degree in an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Clinical reasoning skills enhanced through exposure to work experience and knowledge in basic sciences and treatment techniques required to deal with a variety of populations and conditions.
