Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ambulatory Care Assistant to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our OBGYN department, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our medical staff in a fast-paced outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and clerical support to medical staff, ensuring patients' needs are met and the clinic operates efficiently.
  • Assist providers with completing requisitions, forms, and test results, and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Administer prescribed medication under the supervision of attending providers and perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens.
  • Document and report test results to medical providers, and maintain quality control testing and logs.
  • Act as a chaperone during medical examinations and ensure medical records and test results are available for visits.
  • Provide assistance and information to patients, families, and visitors as instructed by the physician.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Programs to ensure quality patient services are provided.
  • Generate patient charge data and assist with maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check and federal background check, if applicable.
  • Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registration or Certification in Medical Assisting.
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in patient care.
