POSITION TITLE: Grounds Equipment Mechanic

REPORTS TO: Director of Plant Operations

SUPERVISION: N/A

JOB PURPOSE: To ensure the functionality and reliability of various grounds maintenance machinery through effective maintenance and repair.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on a range of grounds maintenance machinery; execute both minor and major repairs as necessary. Perform routine preventive maintenance and tune-ups; replace components as required. Oversee maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to mechanical and electrical components of grounds equipment; diagnose and rectify electrical issues related to grounds machinery and attachments. Order parts and supplies while managing inventory levels. Support grounds maintenance staff with various tasks related to grounds upkeep. Utilize a variety of tools and equipment for grounds maintenance tasks. Maintain accurate records concerning equipment maintenance and repair activities. Carry out additional duties as assigned. Ensure consistent attendance. Assist with snow and ice removal when required. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Familiarity with methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair of grounds maintenance machinery. Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and repair of diverse grounds maintenance equipment. Understanding of proper storage techniques for equipment, materials, and supplies. Awareness of health and safety regulations. Basic knowledge of record-keeping practices. Ability to apply proper lifting techniques. CAPABILITIES: Effectively maintain, repair, and adjust a variety of grounds maintenance machinery. Perform general grounds maintenance tasks. Operate hand and power tools used in grounds maintenance. Lift heavy objects as necessary. Comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions. Collaborate effectively with team members. Maintain accurate records. Adhere to legal and defensive driving standards. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work involves standing, sitting, and walking. Effective communication skills using speech, vision, and hearing are required. Manual dexterity for simple grasping and fine motor tasks is necessary. Physical activities include bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, not exceeding one-third of body weight. Exposure to moving machinery, varying temperatures and humidity, as well as dust, fumes, and gases. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of grounds equipment.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
