Overview:
$17.78 / hour
Responsibilities:
The primary role of the Costume Artisan is to design and construct costumes for various performances and attractions. These creations can range from basic departmental attire to intricate showpieces for seasonal productions. Utilizing a diverse array of fabrics and materials, Costume Artisans may receive minimal guidance, such as a rough sketch, and are expected to bring a complete outfit to life. Creativity and innovation are essential in this position. Senior artisans will occasionally collaborate with production and entertainment management to understand how a costume will be utilized and how it should respond to the requirements of specific scenes.

Additionally, the costume artisans are responsible for crafting costume elements for beloved characters.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Educational background, licenses, skills, etc.
Ability to stand for the duration of an eight-hour shift
Proficient in operating industrial sewing machines, overlock machines, roll edge hemmer, commercial steam irons, and laundry equipment, as well as hand sewing
Familiarity with the construction of basic garments and theatrical costuming
Experience in pattern drafting and fabric cutting
Capability to assist as a dresser in entertainment venues when necessary

Responsibilities:
  • Overview of duties to be performed:
To assist in the creation of all costumes within the department, including stock, special builds, show costumes, and character costumes
To take measurements, draft patterns, cut, stitch, fit, and alter costumes as directed by the designer/supervisor
To ensure a safe working environment throughout the department
To perform dressing duties as required for major entertainment events
To engage positively with fellow employees and entertainment talent.
