About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) team at Lockheed Martin. As a Mechanical Engineer - Innovation and Development, you will play a key role in advancing scientific discovery and transitioning innovative technologies in human systems, robotics and autonomy, spectrum systems, data analytics, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop packaging and thermal solutions for military applications
  • Perform lab testing and integration of high performance ruggedized photonic/fiber optic systems
  • Perform modeling and simulation to validate concepts and guide designs
  • Support research projects to innovate and provide new/novel solutions for novel problems
  • Participate in large-scale field tests where our systems are tested on the ground, at sea, and in the air on commercial or Military assets
  • Assist in the acquisition of new business by formulating modern day solutions to customer problems
Requirements
  • Beginning or intermediate proficiency with mechanical engineering fundamental principles
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience using computer aided design (CAD) tools
  • Good team working and collaboration skills
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance to at least the Secret level
Desired Skills
  • Hands-on lab experience with electronics, photonics, and or high frequency RF devices
  • Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools such as CREO, ANSYS, or similar
  • Experience with source code/model management tools such as Git or similar
  • Experience with modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Labview
  • Ability to use / read programming languages such as python or C/C++

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
