Position Overview:
Become an integral part of a leading academic healthcare institution, UChicago Medicine, as a Patient Care Manager within our Operating Room Team. At UChicago Medicine, we are dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to patients facing a range of health challenges, from routine to complex cases. This role requires a presence in the greater Chicagoland area, as it is a fully onsite position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit clinical and leadership capabilities, serving as a mentor for nursing staff.
- Identify clinical practice challenges and drive the implementation of effective solutions.
- Establish staffing patterns aligned with patient needs, staff qualifications, and available resources to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain unit continuity by adjusting staffing in response to patient requirements, demonstrating knowledge of patient care protocols across various age groups.
- Assist in the development and oversight of the departmental budget, adhering to established financial guidelines.
- Oversee the selection, utilization, and management of unit equipment and supplies.
- Engage in the recruitment and selection process for unit personnel.
- Demonstrate accountability for maintaining appropriate staffing levels around the clock.
- Schedule staff in accordance with patient care demands and contractual obligations.
- Contribute to the formulation and review of policies and procedures.
- Foster a work environment that promotes positive morale, motivation, and commitment among all team members.
- Facilitate regular staff meetings to address unit and staff concerns.
- Participate in the planning and assessment of educational initiatives to meet unit needs and support staff development.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the orientation program for new hires, collaborating with Clinical Nurse Specialists.
- Ensure all staff have opportunities to attend mandatory training and competency assessments as per regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an NLN accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
Licensure:
- Current RN license in Illinois.
Position Details:
- Job Type/FTE: 1.0, Full-time.
- Shift: Days.
- Unit/Department: CCD-OR.
- CBA Code: Non-Union.
