Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Steel Inspector to join our team at GMF Steel Group. As a key member of our Field Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of our structural steel products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform visual field inspections of bolts and welds on structural steel buildings to ensure compliance with industry standards and company specifications.
  • Conduct inspections using various non-destructive testing methods, including magnetic particle (MT) and ultrasonic testing (UT), to identify defects and anomalies.
  • Assist the Quality Control department with document control, including the creation and updating of weld procedures and project-specific quality control plans.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure effective communication and coordination with clients.
  • Participate in general quality control updates, trainings, auditing, and inspections as required.
Requirements
  • Certification in UT Level II and MT Level II.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a CWI/NDT inspector with a focus on structural steel field inspections.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in large-scale commercial or industrial construction.
  • Familiarity with Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) and ability to work at heights.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS D1.1 and RCSC.
  • Familiarity with AISC Code of Standard Practice and Chapter N.
  • Ability to read structural steel drawings and details and understand project specifications.
