Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist

Under the direction of the Cath Lab Manager and direct supervision of the PCC, perform patient examinations and related activities. This includes executing various radiologic concepts to maximize performance, positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient exams in accordance with established protocols and assist clinicians during procedures.
- Circulate in/out of the room during cases, obtaining supplies/equipment as needed, and perform hemodynamic monitor activities.
- Maintain patient records as required and ensure the patient's clinical history is complete.
- Complete associated paperwork and accession procedures, perform QA/QC procedures for imaging equipment, and prepare necessary documentation.
- Archive and complete patient examinations, start IVs, and administer contrast media.
- Remove arterial and/or venous sheaths, maintain and adhere to accepted sterile techniques, and provide a clean environment within the examination area.
Demonstrate Technical Aptitude
- Modify technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognize complications/limitations associated with certain procedures.
- Assist with all procedures in any needed role, including operating x-ray equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, and directly assisting the physician at the scrub table.
- Deal with and troubleshoot multiple pieces of Cath lab equipment, including EKG monitors, hemodynamic monitors, procedure tables, and cardiac/peripheral interventional devices.
- Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
- Perform all quality controls on all imaging equipment as required and ensure all equipment is in safe working order prior to use.
Education/Skills
- Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required.
Work Experience
- One or two years in special imaging modalities preferred.
Assist in training student technologists when required and demonstrate knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
