Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of transforming healthcare and serving as a leader of positive change.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect patient care, promoting patient satisfaction, comfort, and safety under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Assist with various patient, unit, and environment-related tasks, ensuring effective and safe patient outcomes.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives and ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members.
- Take initiative to improve job performance and create new opportunities, driving excellence in patient care and teamwork.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans, ensuring safe transitioning and continuum of care.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician program, or equivalent medical background experience.
- The ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, and demonstrate a strong sense of accountability for improving patient lives and caregiver well-being.
- Experience or certification in phlebotomy and checking EKG, vital signs, and blood sugar.
- At least one year of PCT or CNA experience in a hospital setting, or eligibility for the HMH PCT apprentice program.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
