Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, meticulous, and organized Civil Litigation Paralegal to assist our legal team and administrative staff. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities including document management, legal drafting, occasional research, and comprehensive case oversight. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and effective time management.

Key Responsibilities


• Filing documents electronically with various judicial bodies


• Drafting legal documents such as demand letters, complaints, motions, and discovery requests and responses


• Preparing and submitting administrative agency charges and responses (e.g., with EEOC and IDHR)


• Reviewing and organizing discovery materials


• Overseeing case and file activities, managing deadlines with minimal oversight


• Calculating and scheduling deadlines within the firm's management systems


• Conducting occasional legal research as needed


• Accurately entering billing information (average of 25 hours/week)


• Communicating effectively with staff, clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties


• Participating in regular team meetings


• Applying creative and analytical skills to solve problems


• Assisting in the onboarding and training of new employees as necessary


• Performing additional tasks as required

Qualifications and Skills


• At least 3 years of experience in a litigation paralegal capacity


• Essential skills include: common sense, critical thinking, time management, organization, teamwork, and clear communication


• Ability to follow instructions attentively and respectfully


• Willingness to collaborate effectively as part of a team


• Capability to work independently, self-monitor, and manage tasks


• Professional demeanor and conduct representative of the firm


• Strong organizational and time management abilities


• Proficiency in MS Office, case management software, and electronic filing systems


• Excellent research and analytical capabilities


• Initiative and commitment to delivering high-quality work


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Paralegal certification is preferred; experience in employment law is advantageous


• Supervisory experience is highly desirable
