Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Instructional Assistant to join our team at Seattle Public Schools. As an Instructional Assistant, you will work closely with our certified teachers to provide support and instruction to students in an Early Learning classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with Lesson Planning: Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives and program philosophy.
  • Provide Instructional Support: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide additional support and instruction.
  • Classroom Management: Assist with maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment, including setting up and organizing materials and supplies.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance, including anecdotal records and other relevant data.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent and 1) completion of an associate degree, OR 2) completion of two years of college, not a degree but seventy-two (72) quarter hours or forty-eight (48) semester hours of college credit, or 3) a passing score on the Praxis Parapro Assessment Test.
  • Experience: One year of related paid work experience.
  • Certifications: Valid State of Washington Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility, and Criminal Justice Fingerprint & background check.
