The Department of Pediatrics at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking an exceptional physician to serve as Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of outstanding faculty members in delivering high-quality care to patients and their families at Duke Childrens Neurology Department.
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctorate of Medicine (or equivalent) and be board-certified in Pediatric Neurology. They must also have or be eligible for a North Carolina medical license. Priorities for the Division Chief include developing innovative patient programs, mentoring faculty, and enhancing research and academic programs.
The division currently includes eleven faculty, four nurse practitioners, three nurse clinicians, seven pediatric neurology residents, several research associates, neurophysiology fellows, and clerical staff. Their academic interests comprise a full range of neurological conditions, including diseases of the brain, peripheral nervous system, and muscles.
The division includes subspecialty areas such as Neurodevelopment, Epileptology, Tuberous Sclerosis, Headache, Autoimmune Brain Disease, Neurodegeneration, and Neuro Intensive Care. Education of learners at the resident and medical student levels is an integral component of the divisions mission. All faculty excel at bedside teaching, and the division has been repeatedly honored for their teaching from the graduating pediatrics and medicine-pediatrics residents.
The Duke Department of Pediatrics has a long history of excellence in patient care, graduate, and undergraduate medical education, and clinical, laboratory, and health services research. Duke Childrens Hospital is ranked among the top 50 hospitals in the nation, and the Department of Pediatrics is ranked first or second nationally in the Blue Ridge NIH funding ranking for pediatric clinical science departments.
