Senior Engineering Technician

Location: PAX River, MD

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical engineering statements of work.
  • Plan and implement projects using both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build methodologies.
  • Estimate scopes of work for design and construction efforts.
  • Address contractor submissions and inquiries (RFIs).
  • Ensure technical accuracy and quality in the development of comprehensive Statements of Work, including drawings and specifications for new and renovation projects.
  • Collaborate as a team member on assigned construction projects.
  • Represent the organization at construction sites, monitoring contractor quality control to ensure high standards are met.
  • Assist Construction Managers in project coordination and execution.
  • Participate in all construction and quality control meetings.
  • Monitor safety compliance and report violations promptly.
  • Review construction plans and specifications, ensuring adherence to contract requirements.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and quality assurance activities.
  • Provide performance feedback on contractors at project completion.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in mechanical and plumbing schematic design, as well as design development for commercial, industrial, and healthcare facilities.
  • Proficient in office automation software, including MS Office 2007 or higher.
  • Must possess a Secret clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with quality control inspection tools and methodologies.
  • Technical expertise in developing complete Statements of Work, including drawings and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician.
  • Understanding of construction technology principles and industry practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Ability to prepare cost estimates and assist in change order negotiations.
  • Strong communication skills for effective oral and written presentations.
  • Competence in interpreting plans and specifications.
