Position Title: Swim Instructor and Lifeguard
Reports To: Assistant Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: Responsible for instructing students on water safety and proper swimming techniques, utilizing a comprehensive understanding of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver swim instruction in accordance with the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
  2. Enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and perform rescues and first aid as necessary.
  3. Assess student progress and complete required documentation promptly.
  4. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding students' swimming skills and development.
  5. Act as an ambassador for Goldfish Swim School to ensure parent satisfaction.
  6. Employ problem-solving and creative thinking skills to address challenges faced by students.
  7. Inspect pool areas before and after classes for maintenance, cleanliness, or damage, reporting issues to management as needed.
  8. Maintain proper storage of all pool equipment and manage lane lines.
  9. Document and report accidents and incidents to management.
  10. Perform Deck Teacher duties as required.
  11. Occasionally carry out light cleaning tasks such as window washing, deck mopping, and trash removal.
  12. Attend mandatory workshops and training sessions outside of regular working hours.
  13. Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the employer.
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, or childcare provider is advantageous. No prior swimming instructor experience is necessary, as training will be provided; however, a passion for teaching and swimming is essential.Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid certification are required. A Lifeguard Certification is highly recommended.Work Environment: This position regularly involves exposure to heat and humidity, with a moderate noise level.
