Position Overview

The Equipment Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of production machinery through effective troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, all while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on all equipment to avert breakdowns and minimize production interruptions.
  • Diagnose and repair various facility and production machinery, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Adjust machinery and equipment as necessary to maintain optimal performance.
  • Engage in tasks related to efficient start-ups, daily operations, change-overs, and shut-downs, including the installation and training on new equipment.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for creating, updating, and completing work orders in alignment with maintenance leadership expectations.
  • Test machinery and equipment post-repair to confirm operational efficiency.
  • Document preventive maintenance activities and work orders promptly, generating repair requests as needed.
  • Respond to maintenance calls in a timely manner and complete work orders as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments on root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and yield.
  • Work closely with machine operators and production supervisors to address mechanical issues during production shifts.
  • Identify and communicate any additional preventive maintenance needs for machinery.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, reporting usage and assisting in determining minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools are properly cared for.
  • Comply with safety policies, procedures, and all OSHA regulations.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Assist in training production operators on the correct operation of equipment.
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics for effective troubleshooting.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial electricity, automation control, and mechanical repairs is essential.
  • Certification in Electrical and Mechanical technology is advantageous, or 2-3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment may be considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for accessing part locations and availability via CMMS platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate mechanical processes and root causes of issues to production operators and fellow maintenance technicians.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to lead by example, adhering to safety protocols and assigned work schedules.
  • Team-oriented, willing to assist colleagues as needed.
  • Sanitary welding and PLC troubleshooting experience are a plus.
  • Experience in the food processing industry is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb (including stairs/ladders).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and around machinery and chemicals.
  • Physical dexterity necessary for handling supplies, machine parts, and tools.
  • Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
