Key Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • At least one year of experience in Interventional Pain Management
  • Completion of a minimum of 2000 clinical hours
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty
  • Current CNOR/CRNFA certification (if applicable)
  • Valid provider certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Core Responsibilities:

  • Building and sustaining effective relationships with patients, their families, and healthcare team members
  • Offering expert consultation to medical staff regarding pain management cases
  • Performing comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic assessments to identify pain sources
  • Educating patients on various pain management strategies, including lifestyle modifications and therapeutic interventions
  • Engaging in research to discover innovative pain management techniques and treatments
  • Prescribing appropriate medications for pain management in accordance with state regulations
  • Delivering postoperative care to surgical patients, monitoring for complications, and providing education on recovery
  • Collaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal treatment for pain conditions
  • Discussing alternative pain management options with physicians for patients at risk of substance misuse
  • Maintaining effective communication through timely responses to voicemails and emails
  • Understanding the pathophysiology of acute and chronic pain
  • Managing complex pharmacologic therapies, including chronic opioid management
  • Recognizing neuro-musculoskeletal disorders
  • Interpreting advanced radiographic imaging results (e.g., MRI)
  • Assessing psychological factors related to chronic pain
  • Comprehending interventional spine procedures, including indications, anatomy, pharmacology, and potential complications
