Job Title: Pain Intervention RN

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pain Intervention RN to join our team at New Mexico Surgery Center - Orthopaedics. Located at 8300 Constitution Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, our state-of-the-art facility provides exceptional care to patients undergoing orthopedic procedures.

Job Summary:

The Pain Intervention RN will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing care for patients in the pain intervention department. This includes providing care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center, making decisions regarding direct patient care needs, and communicating appropriate information to other team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Know and adhere to policies of the Center and demonstrate fiscal responsibility
  • Follow policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards
  • Perform thorough pre-procedural patient assessment required in the outpatient setting
  • Assist in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient prior to admission
  • Provide pre-procedural instruction and explanation of patient rights and responsibilities
  • Describe the perioperative experience to the patient/significant other, including what to expect before, during, and after the procedure, and how the significant other will participate
  • Obtain pertinent patient records prior to patient's arrival for pre-procedural testing
  • Organize and prepare medical records of patients. Document care appropriately and fully. Follow up on missing data and other patient care needs.
  • Maintain and demonstrate current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, and other needed clinical competencies.
  • Remain calm and function as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
  • Seek involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
  • Actively participate in appropriate committee and CQI activities.
  • Follow OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
  • Inform Pain Intervention Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
  • Follow employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Currently licensed in the state.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
