Community Outreach Specialist - African American Focus

The Alzheimer's Association is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Outreach Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our outreach team, you will be responsible for building relationships with the African American community to promote and expand our program and services, and increase engagement in our mission.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement strategies to build community awareness of the Alzheimer's Association's services and resources in the African American community.
  • Expand the utilization of programs and services in the chapter and partner with colleagues to expand overall reach in the African American Community.
  • Serve as a community liaison and spokesperson at relevant community events to build collaborative partnerships with strategic partner agencies to reach new constituents.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to serve as community connectors and educators.
  • Develop, lead, and mobilize the Black Alzheimer's Association Advisory Council to elevate the Alzheimer's Association's presence and reach in the African American Community chapter wise.
  • Schedule, plan, market, and oversee the delivery of core services and community forums to reach and serve the African American community.
  • Develop and expand African American national and chapter-wide partnerships to meet Key Performance Indicators for our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion priorities (KPI-3).
  • Serve as a media spokesperson for the Association. Collaborate with the communications department in marketing strategies to engage African Americans on all communication channels.
  • Foster full mission community engagement, including advocacy and signature events.
  • Lead grant funded outreach efforts. Track and report statistics for grant requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • 3 years of experience and demonstrated success in outreach to the African American community.
  • Community mobilization and volunteer recruitment and management experience.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion.
