Job Title: Principal Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our team at the City of New Orleans. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the activities of a major division of our engineering department, overseeing the development, construction, and maintenance of engineering projects, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage a team of engineers and technicians to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for large-scale projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including those related to environmental impact, safety, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and address engineering-related issues and opportunities.
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for engineering projects.

Requirements:

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana or another state.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Professional Engineer, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills in engineering principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
