The Activity Director plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for residents through engaging and meaningful activities. This position involves the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of a comprehensive activity program tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement both individual and group activities that cater to residents' varying levels of functionality.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of necessary documentation, including section E of the Minimum Data Set (MDS).
- Develop and maintain the activities segment of the Comprehensive Care Plan based on thorough activity assessments.
- Conduct annual assessments for each resident regarding their participation in activities.
- Provide personalized activities for residents who are bedfast or unable to join group events, ensuring proper documentation.
- Create and distribute a monthly activity calendar that is prominently displayed and accessible to residents and visitors.
- Prepare and circulate the facility newsletter to keep residents informed.
- Organize at least two off-site activities each month to promote community engagement.
- Participate in local events that align with the interests of the facility and coordinate the use of community resources.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Events/Activities Coordinator to plan various events for both staff and residents.
- Oversee the recruitment, orientation, and supervision of the facility's volunteer program.
- Engage in facility Quality Assurance meetings and compile Monthly QA reports.
Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation or equivalent experience is preferred.
Licensing: Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a social or recreational program is essential.
