Team Overview

The Business Consulting Services division offers extensive internal and performance audit services to clients across the Western United States. We assist clients in implementing solutions through the development of policies and procedures, organizational redesign, process enhancements, and training. Our collaborative team is committed to delivering exceptional client service through strong relationships and high-quality outputs.

We are looking for a Senior Compliance and Audit Specialist to join our team. This multifaceted role will emphasize grant management, compliance assistance, and internal audit services, primarily for governmental, tribal, and non-profit organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Initiate project planning activities and establish compliance monitoring frameworks.
  2. Oversee subrecipient performance and reporting evaluations.
  3. Conduct compliance assessments, evaluate financial submissions, and formulate findings and recommendations.
  4. Execute internal controls assessments, internal audits, policy development, and operational evaluations.
  5. Engage in consulting tasks, including conducting interviews, reviewing documentation, performing analyses, and preparing client deliverables such as findings, recommendations, and reports.
  6. Collaborate with clients to comprehend existing business practices, identify improvement opportunities, define new processes, and create or update policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred; a Master's in Accounting, MBA, or MPA is highly regarded.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally with government entities or non-profits; CPA, CIA, CGMA, or CFE certification is preferred.
  3. Experience in grant management and internal controls audits is essential.
  4. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), the Yellow Book, and standards from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is preferred.
  5. Understanding of the financial and operational aspects of non-profits and local governments is desirable.
  6. Ability to produce reports, prepare findings, and present recommendations effectively.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  8. Capability to analyze problems, think critically, and devise innovative solutions.
  9. Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  10. Ability to take direction, work independently, set priorities, and deliver high-quality work.
  11. Proven time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint) is required.
  13. Willingness to travel as necessary, approximately 20-30%.
