Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Coordinator II to join our team at Dungarvin. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and personal growth of individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, and/or mental health diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate a variety of services, including individual finances, activities, program services, positive behavioral support needs, family involvement, education/vocational programs, health care/nutrition, and household management.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and maintain consistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and support team members.
  • Carry out the responsibilities and duties of the behavioral support staff during all direct care shifts.
  • Provide hands-on and/or verbal assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance to individuals.
  • Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of individuals served.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, and more.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
  • Build relationships with individuals served and teammates.
  • Attend community occasions and fun activities, such as outdoor walks, games, and social events.
  • Work on tailored outcomes for individuals and develop behavioral guidance plans as needed.
  • Transport individuals to appointments or other activities outside the home.
  • Empower individuals with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
  • Document progress, milestones, and action steps.
Requirements
  • 18 years or older to work in residential adult programs and at least 21 years or older to work in child foster care homes.
  • Good decision-making, communication, and time management skills.
  • Responsibility, reliability, and ability to carry out job functions without direct supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by Dungarvin policy.
  • Current auto liability insurance.
  • Computer skills for documentation.
  • Ability to perform personal cares.
  • High school diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Three years' experience in delivering significant behavioral health services, with de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods, and person-centered approach.
  • A minimum of one year of lead staff experience in residential services or a two-year degree in a related field.
  • Ability to understand and implement behavior support plans, treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans, and person-centered plans.
  • Physical fitness to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods of time and lift 50lbs.
Skills Critical to Success
  • Ability to assess individuals' mental health status through interviews and observation, following plan of care, de-escalation techniques, positive support role, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Effective communication, including reading, writing, and speaking English clearly.
  • Ability to assess situations and make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities, anticipating possible outcomes of actions and reacting accordingly.
  • Ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality services, exchanging support, constructive criticism, and ideas with others.
  • Ability to effectively work one-on-one with individuals and within group settings.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks, self-managing tasks effectively and communicating needs.
  • Ability to maintain a positive professional and therapeutic rapport with individuals who struggle with significant behavioral or mental health concerns.
