Job Title: Driver

Centers for Independence is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver to join our Food Service team. As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating an MCFI Food Service vehicle to deliver meals and supplies to customers, while providing excellent customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Food Service vehicles over designated routes or in response to supervisor instructions.
  • Promptly, accurately, and completely comply with all driver record keeping requirements, including using Route Boss, a route planning and tracking tool.
  • Provide superior customer service to delivery recipients, including assisting with food service responsibilities, such as preparing and serving meals.
  • Ensure that all items on the production sheet and supply order form are delivered and signed for.
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance when needed, including checking fluid levels and tire pressure, and specified interval testing of all vehicle safety equipment.
  • Clean vehicles weekly, and maintain the daily sanitation and interior/exterior appearance of the vehicles.
  • Clean the dock, production, and service areas as assigned.
  • Participate in end-of-day clean up, including dishwashing and cleaning/sanitizing of equipment and hot boxes.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, including wearing a clean and proper uniform.
  • Practice and promote food and physical safety in the workplace.
  • Work effectively as a member of the Food Service team, including stocking and rotating products for storerooms/coolers/freezers, maintaining kitchen equipment, counting inventory, etc.
  • Readily adjust to variable working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic, and road construction, trip changes, etc.
  • Communicate any issues related to daily assignments to the supervisor.
  • Attend departmental and agency-wide safety briefings and training sessions as required.
  • Present a positive public image of the Food & Nutrition Services Department and MCFI, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in department quality planning activities, including continuous improvement, Logic models, performance metrics, etc.
Requirements:
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • Current Wisconsin Driver License, without limitations that are incompatible with duties and responsibilities, and a motor vehicle record acceptable to program and/or contractual requirements.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination, drug screen, TB test, and background check.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required driver/customer service representative trainings within 90 days of hire, including Defensive Driving, operation of Route Boss GPS system, customer service modules, and ServSafe Manager certification.
  • ServSafe certification is required for Driver 2 position.
  • Ability to serve meals according to Food Safety Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Able to respond to emergency situations in accordance with training received.
  • Able to understand and follow written and verbal directions, and speak and write in a clear concise manner.
  • Accurately and promptly communicate customer concerns to designated Food Service staff.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Route Boss system for navigation and accountability purposes.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may experience or must do to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Must be able to frequently move, transport, position, push/pull, and/or lift objects or equipment weighing at least 70 pounds repetitively (100 pounds intermittently) in a variety of situations, including using stairs or during inclement weather.
  • This position may work in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments, which may include various outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and fluctuating temperatures, and the occasional use of stairs.
