Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Care / Youth Care Worker to join our team at Children Having Opportunities in a Caring Environment Inc. As a key member of our staff, you will provide supportive care and guidance to vulnerable youth in a residential group home setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth in daily living activities, including meals, education, and recreational pursuits.
  • Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with each resident, promoting emotional well-being and stability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and structured approach to care, while also recognizing and respecting individual needs and preferences.
  • Participate in house meetings and contribute to the development of care plans that meet the unique requirements of each resident.
  • Administer medication as required, maintaining accurate records and communicating with healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of all parties involved.
  • Maintain a clean and organized living environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Operate agency vehicles safely and efficiently, transporting residents to appointments and activities as required.
  • Pursue ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as trauma-informed care, mental health, and youth development.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 12 months experience working with children aged 8-17 and being at least 21 years old.
  • Preferably, applicants should hold a degree in human services or a related field, coupled with two years of experience in a residential setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to pass a 7-point DCF background screening, Child Abuse Registry, Sexual Offender Registry, FBI, Local Sheriff, and Department of Justice screenings.
  • Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and commercial auto insurance.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certifications.

Salary and Benefits: $15.00 - $16.25 per hour, depending on experience (DOE). This full-time position offers paid vacation, opportunity for growth, supplemental insurance plans via Aflac, Simple IRA after 90 days, holiday pay, and paid time off. Flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and overnights, may be required.
