We are seeking a highly skilled MDS Coordinator to join our team at Watertown Health Care Center.
Key Responsibilities:- Admission Process: Participate in the admission process of prospective residents, assessing their nursing needs and determining their appropriate placement.
- Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs): Determine potential RUGs and associated expenses for potential admissions.
- Application Review: Review all applications for admission, followed by on-site or phone assessments, and communicate results to the Admissions Coordinator.
- MDS Process: Complete and ensure the accuracy of the MDS process for all residents.
- Medicare Criteria: Maintain current working knowledge of Medicare criteria and serve as a resource for nursing staff, communicating changes in regulations.
- Case Mix Index (CMI) Scores: Monitor CMI scores, identifying potential risks and changes that may affect Medicaid reimbursement.
- Problem-Solving: Facilitate problem-solving for complicated admissions.
- Medicare Assessment Schedules: Monitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
- Experience: Experience in an MDS coordinator role or related experience.
- Licensure: Current and valid state registered nursing license.
- Clinical Experience: Experience in a clinical and healthcare setting.
- Medical Terminology: Deep medical terminology knowledge.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Decision-Making Skills: Superb decision-making skills.
