Marine Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic to join our team at City Experiences in San Diego. As a Marine Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing complex mechanical repairs, maintenance, and installation of equipment on our vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and ensure vessel readiness, reporting problems, and performing proactive service and maintenance.
  • Report any safety hazards and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain logs and follow up reports, including engine operating data, run hours, inspections, repairs, and asset/equipment lists.
  • Perform skilled mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and refitting aboard vessels and shoreside settings.
  • Conduct crew training to ensure engineering standards and procedures are followed.
  • Interface with the USCG on inspections, safety, and engineering.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Four years' experience operating, maintaining, and repairing shipboard machinery and systems.
  • Proficiency with common marine shop equipment and tools.
  • Clean DMV record and valid CDL.
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain one upon hire.
  • Merchant Mariner Document or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Good team player with a sense of urgency.
  • Physically demanding job requiring ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop, and walk up and down stairs and on uneven/moving surfaces.
