Job Summary

A highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist is required to assist in the start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of electrical switchgear. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical theory and technologies, with experience in hands-on electronic work and field services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of electrical switchgear
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers, coworkers, and sales representatives
  • Evaluate the operating conditions of equipment and interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear and respond to emergency calls at customer's request
  • Strive to provide all customers with a 'first time fix' for their equipment and provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of time cards, expense reports, etc.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on electronic experience or field services
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals
  • Reading schematics and blueprints for power control, automation
  • Power distribution, AC/DC, Voltage Circuit Theory, and practical troubleshooting skills
  • Background in electrical power, including low voltage through medium voltage, and experience with most types of switchgear testing
  • Experience with programming PLCs and HMIs
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Standard computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job, including close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds
  • Valid driver's license required

Working Conditions

  • Travel is required, with individual assignments typically 3 to 5 weeks in duration
  • When on assignment, working schedules are typically 10-12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, day, or night shift
  • This is a hands-on field, travel-type position, with up to 80% travel required, which could be national/international depending on site locations
  • Flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
