Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation, Worker Health and Safety (WHS) Branch is seeking a Research Scientist I to join the Pesticide Illness Surveillance Program (PISP). As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in evaluating pesticide-related illness data to identify trends, risk factors, and areas of concern.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate pesticide-related illness data to make determinations about risk factors, trends, and areas of concern.
  • Write reports, documents, and technical publications on epidemiology research studies and illness data trends.
  • Present scientific research results to experts, regulated community, other government agencies, and the public.
  • Collaborate with other researchers on public health studies involving pesticide exposure and illness.
  • Participate in training, education, and outreach activities related to public health and illness surveillance.

Working Conditions:

  • Viewing a computer monitor for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Working in a high-rise building.
  • Lifting office and/or field equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
