The Texas Health & Human Services Commission is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at the State Supported Living Center. As a Direct Care RN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide routine level nursing care to individuals residing in the State Supported Living Center, including assessment, care, and treatment.
- Evaluate and document healthcare needs and/or issues, and report to the appropriate person(s).
- Communicate with direct care staff, physicians, administration, and other nursing staff to ensure optimal care as part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Notify the supervisor and PCP of trends and concerns to ensure consistent, high-quality care for all persons served.
- Complete data entry, required documentation, and reports, and maintain records.
- Assist with services provided by LVNs and Certified Medication Aides (CMA), as needed, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in facility quality assurance/quality improvement (QA/QI) initiatives, as required.
- Respond to emergency situations to ensure safety and care of individuals and staff.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact).
- Work experience as a practicing registered nurse is required.
- At least six (6) months of experience as a practicing registered nurse in a health agency, hospital, or health-care facility is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
This position may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
