Job Summary:

The Registered Ultrasound Technologist will apply medical ultrasound to patients in accordance with a doctor's order, working within the scope of practice defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and American Society Radiologic Technologists. This position requires handling the movement, setup, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment, as well as providing patient assessment information to the Radiologist as needed. The technologist must be able to handle all patients according to their individual needs and provide documentation of procedural information in the patient's medical record, including PACS. The position requires strong behavior and communication skills that align with the organization's mission, values, and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality ultrasound procedures under minimal supervision, utilizing diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment.
  • Document calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment.
  • Coordinate, organize, and plan emergent cases, evaluating and acting to maintain efficiency and maximize productivity.
  • Assist the Radiologist in performing invasive biopsy procedures using the Ultrasound system to pinpoint exact anatomical locations of diseased areas for specimen evaluation and diagnosis.
  • Ensure accurate charging and submission of procedures for correct billing.
  • Maintain the Ultrasound room's supply levels, check equipment and computer status for readiness, and report any problems that could impact workflow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating competence in patient care responsibilities and adapting patient assessment to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs.

Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Minimum 1-year scanning experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound.
  • ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen required within one year.
  • LRST/ARRT Radiologic Technology License preferred.
  • Certification in OB/GYN or Breast preferred.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field of study.
