Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

The Registered Ultrasound Technologist will apply medical ultrasound to patients in accordance with a doctor's order, working within the scope of practice defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and American Society Radiologic Technologists. This position requires handling medical ultrasound equipment, patient movement, and setup. The technologist must handle patients according to their needs and take direction from the Radiology Medical Director. The position provides patient assessment information to the Radiologist as needed and is responsible for documenting procedural information in the patient's medical record, including PACS. The technologist must align their behavior and communication skills with the organization's mission, values, and culture.
Key Responsibilities- Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Perform high-quality ultrasound procedures under minimal supervision using diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment.
- Document calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment.
- Coordinate, organize, plan, and make quick decisions on emergent cases, evaluating and acting to maintain efficiency and maximize productivity.
- Assist the Radiologist in performing invasive biopsy procedures using the Ultrasound system to pinpoint exact anatomical locations of diseased areas for specimen evaluation and diagnosis.
- Ensure accurate charging of procedures and turn in charges at the end of the day for correct billing.
- Ensure the Ultrasound room is adequately supplied, check equipment and computer status for readiness, report any problems that could change the work flow, and take corrective actions to ensure work flow continuity.
- Perform all tasks as listed, but not limited to, nor to exclude any and all tasks as deemed necessary or recommended by the associate's immediate supervisor or manager on duty.
- Demonstrate competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
- Adapt assigned patient assessment to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.
- Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of Christus Health.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic Life Support
- Minimum 1-year scanning experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound preferred
- ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen required within one year
- LRST/ARRT Radiologic Technology License preferred
- Certification in OB/GYN or Breast preferred
- Associate's Degree in Related Field of Study
