Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

US Tech Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Electrical Hardware Engineering organization, you will be responsible for designing and developing rugged military electrical systems for ground, shipboard, and airborne applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including specification and selection of Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) modules, design and development of custom circuit card assemblies (CCA), integration of existing Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), and development of system architecture for Department of Defense (DOD) applications.
  • Perform lead contributions of the design, analysis, simulation, test, integration, and fielding of digital electronic modules, FPGAs, microcontrollers, and/or CCAs for a variety of DOD applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience in electrical design engineering, or 7 years of experience with a Master's degree in a STEM-related discipline.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with ability to adapt to changing priorities and assignments.
  • Proficiency in electrical circuit analysis, with experience using LTSpice (or similar) and other circuit simulation tools.
  • Experience with COTS and/or subsystem integration, and design and testing to environmental standards, such as MIL-STD- and MIL-STD-.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Altium Designer in a collaboration environment.
  • Knowledge of embedded test techniques, design for test, design margin analysis, and design for production.
  • Experience with digital power control, and design, analysis, or test experience with converter topologies, such as flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, and push-pull.
  • Leadership experience, and ability to mentor junior engineers.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or related STEM degree program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience with a Bachelor's in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience with a Master's in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience with a PhD in Engineering.
