Job Summary

Inova Fairfax medical Campus is seeking a Mental Health Technician 1 to join the Emergency Department's new EmPATH team under Behavioral Health. The successful candidate will assist in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, collaborating with the care team to implement a plan of care and meet individualized patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor patients and their environment, intervening as necessary to promote a safe and therapeutic milieu.
  • Identify own learning needs and goals based on timely self-evaluation.
  • Reinforce transition and discharge teaching, as well as home care skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report variances in practice according to Inova Health System policies and procedures.
  • Provide basic activities of daily living nursing care while monitoring activity, sleep, and intake/output.
Requirements
  • High School or GED
  • Mental health/behavioral health experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon start
