Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Therapist at SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital, you will play a critical role in providing advanced life support procedures to patients with respiratory conditions. Your expertise will include tracheal intubation, patient-ventilator weaning procedures, and basic trach care. You will work closely with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care needs and formulate alternative forms of therapy.

Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced life support procedures, including tracheal intubation, using independent judgment and coordination with the healthcare team.

• Initiate patient-ventilator weaning procedures under the direction of the physician.

• Perform basic trach care, including routine and emergent trach tube changes.

• Monitor patient's respiratory status using competent bedside assessment skills and maintain awareness of patient pH/electrolyte balance, ABG values, renal, neurological, and orthopedic functions as applicable to the delivery of respiratory care.

Qualifications:

• Must possess an active credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.

• BLS certification required.

• Current state licensure required.

• ACLS required upon hire.

Preferred Experience:

• 1 year of related experience preferred.
