Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Body Shop Technician to join our team at Long Beach Transit. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for safely performing vehicle body and paint repairs under the direction of our Managers, Fleet Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify damages and create repair plans
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint application by removing parts, masking areas, and sanding
  • Apply paint to vehicle surfaces using various techniques and materials
  • Repair dents and scratches using body repair materials and replace body panels and parts as needed
  • Perform welding, gas, arc, MIG, TIG, and plasma repairs to chassis and related damages
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, inventory materials, and recommend purchases as necessary
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time worked
  • Replace broken glass windshields and windows as required
  • Fabricate parts and tools as needed
  • Comply with all safety and environmental regulations and report any safety-related incidents or accidents
Requirements
  • Three years of experience in paint and body repair of motor coaches, automobiles, or related equipment
  • Familiarity with computer work and ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Welding, paint, and body training certificates are desirable
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 55 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Class C California driver license with a safe driving record and ability to obtain a Class B commercial driver license with air brake and passenger endorsements
