FirstEnergy is seeking a Tax Planning Analyst to join our team in the income tax accounting group of the Tax Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the company's success.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various accounting and analytical tasks to support the calculation of the income tax provision, including preparing journal entries for monthly and quarterly closing and documentation relating to financial reporting and internal control functions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Compiling and analyzing data necessary to support the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns
  • Compiling and analyzing data necessary to support the preparation and filing of various regulatory reports and/or rate cases
  • Reconciling various tax accounts as needed
  • Taking initiative to solve problems and bring issues to closure
  • Collaborating openly and honestly as part of a team
  • Demonstrating a commitment to excellence
  • Acting with integrity in all aspects of the job

  • Demonstrating a willingness to question established procedures and processes

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or comparable degree with Accounting minor or specialization, required
  • Minimum 0-2 years' work experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP preferred but not required
  • Ability to follow established practices, procedures, and instructions, and produce accurate and timely work product
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on special assignments as directed
