Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
As an Educational Support Specialist, your primary duties will include:
• Collaborating with teachers and grade-level teams to foster and enhance an exemplary classroom environment:
- Consistently convey essential messages: 1) This is important 2) You can achieve this with effort 3) I will not give up on you 4) We will support one another
- Provide immediate and specific feedback regarding academic performance and character development to students
- Ensure that goals, both large and small, resonate with students and their families
- Implement a classroom management strategy aimed at achieving 100% compliance with expectations
- Respond swiftly and decisively to behavioral issues
- Maintain a calm, firm, and persuasive tone when addressing inappropriate conduct
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning through your expressions, tone, and actions
• Supporting teachers and grade-level teams to ensure that each student achieves their individual growth and success:
- Regularly monitor and communicate progress to students and their families
- Deliver content in a structured, clear, and accessible manner while emphasizing key points
- Identify and address student confusion promptly
- Insist on complete and accurate responses from students, providing constructive feedback for partial or incorrect answers
- Offer timely, structured academic feedback—both verbally and in writing
- Assess students against lesson objectives to guide instruction and remediation
• Assisting teachers and grade-level teams in creating a positive and secure school experience for every student, every day:
- Step in for teachers or other support staff as needed
- Help plan and supervise students during off-campus educational excursions or community service events
- Ensure classrooms are consistently clean, organized, and welcoming
- Fulfill regular duties related to student arrival, dismissal, and transitions to after-school activities
- Commit to doing whatever it takes to guarantee that each student enjoys a positive and safe school experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Associate's degree and/or 60 college credit hours and/or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment required
• 2-3 years of experience working with children in educational or childcare settings
• Proven success in enhancing the achievement levels of traditionally underserved students
• Humility and self-awareness
• Ability to accept and act on constructive feedback
• Strong belief in and commitment to the mission of KIPP Delta Public Schools
• Dedication to fostering character strengths such as grit, zest, optimism, self-control, social intelligence, gratitude, and curiosity in all students and oneself
