As the inaugural SRE within our organization, we are looking for an individual to establish Operant's SRE strategy and operations aimed at ensuring the resilience and security of our platforms and services. If you are enthusiastic about the prospect of being an early engineer at a startup ready to revolutionize application security solutions, we would be eager to connect with you.
About Us:Our mission is to safeguard the modern digital landscape. Operant's innovative technology addresses some of the most pressing challenges in contemporary cybersecurity—securing applications across all layers of the cloud-native architecture, from infrastructure to APIs, and data to AI. We are dedicated to introducing cutting-edge technological advancements from Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, and AI into the realm of cloud-native security, while developing a product equipped to tackle the increasing complexity and scale of today's cloud-native applications. Having already been recognized as a vendor in Gartner's market guide for API Protection and Kubernetes Runtime Security, as well as Forrester's Zero Trust landscape, the potential for leading this expanding market is immense.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and develop the DevOps/SRE functions for the company's offerings, which encompass:
- Monitoring product and service availability, security, reliability, and scalability
- Documenting and formalizing best practices for operational service behavior
- Creating the infrastructure to support incident management, troubleshooting, remediation, and post-incident reviews
- Building and overseeing CI/CD infrastructure for development, staging, and production environments
- Ensuring adherence to security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
- Tracking and executing tasks related to the maintenance of annual SOC2 compliance controls
- Establishing and communicating on-call schedules and procedures to the wider engineering teams
- Documenting and sharing design decisions with the broader team to foster a remote, asynchronous work culture
- Operating independently while making informed technical decisions amidst uncertainties
- Collaborating across functions with other engineering leaders
- Taking an active interest in understanding customer challenges while iteratively developing features
- Quickly adapting SRE practices and processes to scale with a rapidly growing startup and product
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an active SRE role within a fast-paced engineering organization focused on SaaS/cloud-native products and services
- Proficient in Kubernetes, Golang, and Python
- Familiarity with major cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their automation tools
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously as part of a remote team
- Preferred educational background includes a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent industry experience
- Operant is a remote-first organization, welcoming qualified candidates from various locations.
- This role requires availability during core business hours and occasional adjustments based on customer and business needs.
Operant fosters an inclusive workplace where you can express your ideas and insights, enabling you to advance your career in a dynamic, high-growth startup.
