UCLA Extension is seeking a highly qualified instructor to teach creative writing, screenwriting, and editing & publishing courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in their field, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
Responsibilities
The instructor will be responsible for developing and teaching courses in creative writing, screenwriting, and editing & publishing. This will include creating course syllabi, teaching classes, and providing feedback to students. The instructor will also be expected to stay current with industry developments and best practices in their field.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a strong background in creative writing, screenwriting, or editing & publishing. They must also have excellent teaching skills and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner. Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
A single-author book publication credit is preferred for creative writing instructors. At least one produced script (feature film or teleplay) in which the applicant is credited as a writer or co-writer, documented on IMDb, is preferred for screenwriting instructors. At least three years of experience as a professional staff member at a multi-author publisher or press, or at least three years of experience as an assistant literary agent or full literary agent, is preferred for editing & publishing instructors.
