As a school nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students and staff. Your responsibilities will include teaching classes on nutrition and health, developing healthcare initiatives for the school, and utilizing existing resources to provide appropriate healthcare to students and staff.

We are seeking an engaging and knowledgeable school nurse who is passionate about educational equity and committed to our mission and vision. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through on all activities.

The successful candidate will also have experience with and/or understanding of life experiences in underserved communities, wonderful bedside manner, and the ability to take constructive feedback and quickly incorporate it into their practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing preventative healthcare services, such as immunizations
  • Assessing the status of student and staff immunization documentation, when necessary
  • Developing and implementing health plans for students with specific health needs
  • Carrying out health assessments and screening for deficits in vision, hearing, growth, and/or development of students
  • Planning and implementing school health management protocols and procedures, especially for emergency situations
  • Providing referrals, to parents or staff, for intervention and remediation of abnormal or worrying health conditions affecting students
  • Providing ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and staff
  • Completing medical paperwork, when necessary
  • Attending various school meetings
  • Responding to a variety of questions, comments, concerns, issues, and other matters in a professional manner
