Job Summary:
The Maintenance Aide plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of the aquatic center and its associated equipment. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all users.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and manage pool water chemistry in compliance with health regulations.
2. Ensure safety by maintaining walkways and storage areas.
3. Perform vacuuming of pools and assist in the upkeep of vacuum equipment.
4. Aid in the setup, maintenance, and inventory management of electronic timing systems.
5. Conduct thorough cleaning of pool areas and locker rooms.
6. Regularly inspect and recommend repairs for various pool equipment including ladders, diving boards, and pool covers.
7. Assist with the setup and breakdown of special events.
Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
Experience in custodial work and familiarity with power tools is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in light construction or equipment maintenance.
Knowledge of pool circulation and sanitation systems is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication skills with staff and supervisors.
Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
Knowledge of safety practices related to power tools.
Ability to respond quickly in emergencies and assist with emergency protocols.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to seek assistance when necessary.
Working Conditions:
This role involves a variable schedule and requires regular attendance. Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor settings, subject to changing weather conditions. The position is physically demanding, necessitating the ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds and extensive mobility for prolonged periods.
