Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Recreation Leader PT to join our team at the City of Marietta, GA. As a Recreation Leader PT, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our recreational facilities and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Management: Monitor activity in parks and recreational facilities, ensuring compliance with city ordinances and department policies.
  • Customer Service: Coordinate work schedule to align with pavilion, field, and rentals of other park amenities, providing friendly and timely customer service.
  • Event Support: Assist with activities at Franklin Gateway Sports Complex, special events, and other department activities and programs.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform light maintenance around recreational areas, such as trash removal, sweeping/blowing, and quick repairs not requiring work orders.
  • Security and Safety: Ensure security and safety of facilities, playgrounds, and courts while patrolling, such as restroom doors, fences, gates, windows, and concession windows.
  • Enforcement: Enforce city-wide ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Communication: Greet and provide facility/department information to the general public both in person and by telephone and email.
  • Problem Resolution: Handle customer issues and concerns regarding parks, facilities, and events within their knowledge and ability.
  • Facility Operations: Perform facility opening and closing procedures as needed.
  • Maintenance Assistance: Provide routine maintenance assistance including litter pick-up in and around facilities, cleaning of restrooms, and other light cleaning as needed.
  • Inspections and Repairs: Regularly monitor and inspect facilities, indoors and outdoors, to ensure safety of the patrons, activities, and the facility. Perform minor repairs as necessary and report any larger repair or concern as needed.
  • Event Support: Assist with the implementation of department events, programs, and activities as needed, including set-up, supervision, breakdown, and follow-up.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or GED.
  • Certifications: Current CPR/First Aid or AED Certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Driving Requirements: Must have a valid Georgia driver's license and a satisfactory seven-year driving history, including no DUIs in the last five years.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the rules and regulations of various indoor and outdoor sports and games, knowledge of the care and use of equipment and supplies, knowledge of city safety procedures and basic first aid, ability to plan and organize recreational activities, ability to maintain discipline of a group, including crowd control, and ability to supervise seasonal employees.
  • Availability: Normal hours are varied throughout the week and weekend. Availability to work on nights and weekends is a requirement.
