About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead our Azure Storage team in delivering a world-class cloud storage service. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for driving the reliability and performance enhancements of our service, working on designing, implementing, and shipping product code that meets demanding storage and latency requirements globally.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in software engineering, with experience in managing engineering teams and delivering cloud-based services. You will be responsible for leading the team, supporting talent growth, and career development, as well as fostering a quality-first team culture to ensure high-quality feature delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the team and support talent growth and career development.
  • Drive the SFTP product and foster a quality-first team culture.
  • Research and provide clarity on technical issues.
  • Own planning and ensure successful deliverables.
  • Contribute to Azure storage's technical direction.
  • Act as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to guide engineers and ensure system reliability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of industry software engineering experience delivering cloud-based services.
  • 3 years of designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Prior hands-on development experience with large-scale systems, and coding proficiency in C++ or C.
  • Subject matter expertise in service reliability, Security, Encryption, Authentication, SFTP, SSH, or REST.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy for customers.
