Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Trailer Mechanic to join our team at US Foods, Inc. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel reefer units, as well as performing preventative maintenance and documentation of repair orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel reefer units, ensuring efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on company standards.
  • Complete documentation of repair orders, PM lists, and parts usage.
  • Utilize company software to track assigned repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform basic braising and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic, or a combination of both.
  • Two years of verifiable hands-on experience with either Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification, or both.
  • EPA 608 certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
  • Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience in administering appropriate Reefer PM program.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Effective communication skills with co-workers and drivers.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
