The **Culinary Preparation Specialist** is responsible for preparing various food items according to production needs while adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all opening and closing tasks as outlined in the kitchen checklist.
- Follow the Daily Prep List to ensure all assigned duties are executed efficiently.
- Prepare a diverse range of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other ingredients using various cooking equipment.
- Consistently adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking techniques, and quality expectations.
- Portion food items prior to cooking based on established recipes and specifications.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including all kitchen equipment and surfaces.
- Assist in closing the kitchen and ensure all tasks are completed as per the closing checklist.
- Participate in scheduled team meetings and contribute suggestions for operational improvements.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or food quality issues to the supervising chef.
- Notify the chef of any shortages in supplies or ingredients.
- Utilize the Standard Recipe Card for all food preparations to ensure consistency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the chef or kitchen manager.
- Return unused food items to designated storage areas, ensuring proper labeling and dating.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper food storage temperatures.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with colleagues and customers.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience: At least one year of experience in food service or a related field.
Skills: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
Physical Requirements: The role involves lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items weighing up to 70 lbs. Regular bending, kneeling, and mobility throughout the kitchen are required.
Work Environment: The position is primarily indoors, with exposure to varying temperatures in the kitchen and storage areas.
