Job Summary

Rutgers University is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for screening patients, providing leadership and clinical expertise in the assessment, planning, and treatment of patients in the Lattimore Clinic and additional State-funded clinic(s).

Key Responsibilities

* Performs patient assessment and physical examinations within prescribed guidelines and instruction of physician.
* Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and healthcare needs.
* Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other support services involved with the patient.
* Records findings and formulates a care plan based on patient's condition.
* Teaches patient/significant others about health illness state and tuberculosis disease, infection, and medication.
* Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare and individualized care plan based upon patient assessment and the medical plan of care.
* Refers patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.

Requirements

* Certified as either a Clinical Nurse specialist or a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New Jersey.
* Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
* At least two (2) years of related nursing experience, preferably as an advanced practice nurse required.

Working Conditions

The position requires standing less than 1/3 of the time, walking about 1/3 of the time, and sitting up to 2/3 of the time. The work environment is a laboratory and office setting with moderate noise and exposure to bloodborne pathogens that requires the use of personal protective equipment.
