Job Summary

A Mining Engineer Co-op/Intern at The Mosaic Company will be assigned to projects focused on improving mining conditions and economics. This role will involve learning all aspects of working at a site, including mine planning, ventilation, operations optimization, quality control, maintenance, safety, and mapping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, mine operators, engineers, lab personnel, and contractors.
  • Participate in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment.
  • Adhere to The Mosaic Company's mission, guiding principles, and priorities, and key competencies.

Requirements

  • Sophomore level or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geology or Mining, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 2.75 GPA or higher.
  • Student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship.
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Experience working in a team environment is a must.
  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are a plus.
  • Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.
  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
  • Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Able to climb stairs and work at various heights.
  • Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns, or materials.
  • Able to hear, with or without correction.
  • Able to read, write, and understand basic English.
  • Able to see, with or without correction.
  • Able to use fine hand motor skills.
  • Able to wear a respirator.
  • Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour shift.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
